Why your marketing isn’t working (and what is)

The Playbook

If you’ve ever thought, “Marketing doesn’t work in my area,” this might challenge that idea.

Because marketing does work.

But most drycleaners aren’t actually doing marketing; they’re doing random acts of promotion.

  • Boosting a Facebook post without a plan.
  • Running ads with no real offer behind them.
  • Having a website that just sits there.
  • Relying on word of mouth and hoping it continues.

It feels like effort. It costs money.
But it doesn’t produce consistent results.

Here’s the real problem:

Most marketing fails because it doesn’t ask the client to do anything.

There’s no compelling offer.
No urgency.
No reason to act now.

So people don’t.

What actually works is much simpler and much more direct.

Effective marketing isn’t about being seen.

It’s about getting a response.

And that requires three things.

First, a clear, irresistible offer.
Something that makes the client feel like they’d be crazy not to respond.

That could look like:

  • 33% off a first order
  • A free comforter cleaning with pickup & delivery signup
  • A free first bag of wash & fold

If your offer is weak, your results will be too.

Second, a defined target audience.

Generic marketing gets ignored.

The operators who see real growth focus on specific groups:

  • Busy professionals
  • Dual-income households
  • Affluent neighborhoods

When you speak directly to the right person, your marketing starts to land.

Third, follow-up.

This is where most businesses lose money.

Leads come in, but nothing happens after.

The real growth comes from:

  1. Email follow-ups
  2. Text reminders
  3. Retargeting

The businesses that win aren’t doing more marketing.

They’re doing better marketing.

And it starts with a simple shift:

Stop asking, “How do I get my name out there?”

Start asking, “How do I get the right person to take action today?”

That one change makes everything else fall into place.

Make the Move

Create one offer this week and put it in front of your clients.

Not a discount for the sake of it.

A real reason to act now.

Then send it:

  • Email your list
  • Text your current clients
  • Post it clearly on your socials & website

Don’t wait for people to decide.

Give them a reason to.

Go Deeper

If you want your marketing to consistently bring in new customers, the next step is building a system around it, not just running one-off promotions.

Inside Maverick Drycleaners, we break down how to create offers that convert, target the right clients, and follow up in a way that turns interest into real revenue.

This is how you move from “trying things” to knowing what works.

If that sounds like something you want to be apart of, we want to talk to you. Just go here to book some time with us.

Until next week,

Dave

Work yourself out of a job
From The Playbook Most drycleaning business owners think the goal is to grow revenue. It’s not. The real goal is freedom. And that only happens when your business stops depending on you for everything. There are four stages every business owner moves through: Step 1: TechnicianYou’re doing the work yourself. Cleaning garments, solving problems, handling customers. You’re trading time for income...
