Why Busy Isn't a Marketing Strategy

From The Playbook

I've noticed something over the years.

When business is busy, marketing is usually the first thing people stop doing.

And when business slows down, it suddenly becomes the most important thing on the list.

I've always found that interesting.

It's almost as if we treat marketing like a light switch. We turn it off when we have enough business, then expect it to work the moment we flip it back on.

The problem is, that's not how growth works.

Most busy businesses aren't busy because of something they did last week.

They're busy because of the work they put in months ago.

The emails they sent.

The relationships they built.

The clients they stayed connected with.

The consistent effort that nobody noticed while it was happening.

The opposite is true, too.

When business slows down, it's tempting to believe one promotion or one social media campaign will fix everything.

Sometimes it helps.

But lasting growth rarely comes from reacting.

It comes from consistently planting seeds long before you need the harvest.

That's why I've always believed the best time to market your business is when you feel like you don't need to.

Because the businesses that grow year after year don't turn marketing on and off.

They simply make it part of how they run the business.

Make Your Move

Ask yourself one simple question:

If business suddenly became twice as busy tomorrow, would our marketing stop?

If the answer is yes, it's probably time to build a marketing rhythm that continues regardless of how busy the business gets.

Consistency is what creates momentum.

Your Next Step

One of the biggest differences between businesses that grow consistently and those that ride the roller coaster is having a clear plan.

Not just for marketing, but for the business as a whole.

If you're wondering what the next stage of growth could look like for your business, let's start with a conversation.

We'll talk about your goals, where you are today, and whether Maverick Growth is the right fit to help you build a business that grows more intentionally, not just when business slows down.

When Survival Mode Becomes Normal
From The Playbook One thing I've noticed over the years is that survival mode has a way of becoming normal if you stay in it long enough. Not dramatic. Just... normal. You get used to the pressure. You get used to solving problems all day. You get used to carrying things mentally that nobody else sees. After a while, it simply becomes the way you operate. The dangerous part is that you eventual...
Funny What We Get Used To
From The Playbook It's funny what people can get used to. A noise in the building. A drawer that sticks. The client who complains every week. The employee everyone has quietly learned to work around. At first, those things drive you crazy. You notice them constantly, and you tell yourself you'll deal with them when things settle down. Then one day you realize you don't notice them anymore. Not ...
The Clients You Already Have
From The Playbook Whenever business slows down, most owners start asking the same question: "How do I find more clients?" It's a fair question. When the counter is quiet or the routes aren't as full as you'd like, it's natural to think about advertising, promotions, social media, or whatever might bring new people through the door. But over the years, I've found myself asking a different questi...
