Be Where You Are
May 05, 2025Last week, our Warriors Group met in Wichita for our quarterly meeting.
We talked about a lot.
Marketing tactics that are working.
Team Development to increase our freedom from the business.
Growing our routes.
Completing acquisitions.
But one of the most profound and simple concepts was:
Be Where You Are.
You’ve been to meetings where someone there is fighting constant interruptions – texts, emails, and phone calls. They aren’t getting barely any value out of the meeting because they are so distracted.
At the beginning of our Warrior meeting, I encouraged everyone to minimize distractions so they could be present, and could contribute and learn.
Distractions don’t only happen in meetings. They happen all of the time, especially if we are in a reactive state with our business or personal life.
If you are easily distracted, it’s time to set some ground rules.
To Be Where You Are, you have to let go of the people, places, and things that are not in front of you. And purposefully set boundaries to keep them from distracting you.
You have to trust your team, and empower them to take care of your business when you aren’t at work. If you are the hub of the wheel that all decisions must pass through, then you are really reducing the growth of your business. You are hurting, rather than helping, the business. You must let go.
Where you are – having a cup of coffee with a friend, at work, at a meeting, at a conference, working on marketing, meeting with a team member, talking to a client, hanging out with your kid, or going out to dinner with your spouse......
Be there. Be present.
Such a simple concept, but not always simple to do.
Give it a shot - It will change your life.
Be Where You Are.
Not where you’re not.
Have a great week!
Dave
P.S. The picture above is from our evening together having dinner and playing pickleball. Who knew there were so many great pickleball players in our Warriors Group!
