The Clients You Already Have

From The Playbook

Whenever business slows down, most owners start asking the same question:

"How do I find more clients?"

It's a fair question.

When the counter is quiet or the routes aren't as full as you'd like, it's natural to think about advertising, promotions, social media, or whatever might bring new people through the door.

But over the years, I've found myself asking a different question.

What about the clients you already have?

Every one of your best clients was once a first-time visitor. They trusted you with something that mattered to them, had a good experience, and decided to come back.

Some became lifelong clients.

Others quietly disappeared.

The interesting part is that most businesses can tell you exactly how many new clients they gained last month, but very few know how many stopped coming.

I've always believed it's easier, and far less expensive, to bring back a client who already knows and trusts you than it is to convince a complete stranger to give you a chance.

That's why retention deserves just as much attention as acquisition.

Nobody announces they're leaving.

Life changes. Routines change. They get busy. Maybe another cleaner becomes more convenient. Sometimes they simply haven't had a reason to think about you.

The businesses that continue to grow aren't always the ones spending the most money to find new clients. More often, they're the ones doing the best job of taking care of the relationships they've already earned.

Make Your Move

Pull a list of clients who haven't visited you in the last six months.

Instead of asking, "How do we get more new clients?" ask:

"How do we give these clients a reason to come back?"

One thoughtful message to someone who already knows and trusts you can be worth more than chasing ten people who have never heard of you.

Your Next Step

Growing your business isn't always about finding more people.

Sometimes it's about getting more from the relationships you've already built.

If you're wondering what the next step looks like for growing your business, let's have a conversation.

We'll talk about your goals, where you want your business to go, and whether Maverick Growth is the right fit to help you get there.

If it is, we'll walk you through what that journey looks like. If it isn't, we'll tell you that too.

Watching the Bobber
From The Playbook A few years ago, I heard someone describe life as being like a bobber floating down a river. That image has stuck with me ever since. A bobber doesn't choose where it goes. It simply reacts to the current. One minute it's drifting along, the next it's caught behind a rock or being pulled in a different direction. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that's how many...
The owners who grow use summer differently
From The Playbook Every summer, I see the same pattern play out across our industry. School lets out, clients start traveling, and the counter gets a little quieter. Piece counts soften, but payroll, rent, utilities, and all the other expenses keep moving right along. Most owners respond by putting their heads down and waiting for fall. They tell themselves they will revisit their pricing, tigh...
The business you're really in
From The Playbook I want to challenge the way you think about your business. You may own a drycleaner. You may spend your days focused on garments, production, routes, payroll, spotting, finishing, and serving your clients. But that's not really the business you're in. You're in the business of earning attention. Because before someone ever experiences your quality... Before they appreciate you...
