Do You Love Your Clients?

May 10, 2022

Your success is dependent on your ability to solve problems that your target client cannot or will not solve on their own. And your growth is dependent on spreading the word about the problems you can solve and then coming up with new solutions to new problems.

For example, as dry cleaning and laundry specialists, we save our clients A LOT of time. We also help them feel great about themselves. And we assist in helping with family health by cleaning and sanitizing household items. These are benefit-rich services that our best clients really appreciate.

There’s a bit of a challenge though for service businesses like ours. If we don’t fall in love with our clients, we will commoditize ourselves if we aren’t careful. We will be providing a service without really CARING about the who / what / why / and how we provide our services. Our clients will see us only as a transaction if we do this.

So, what do you say? Do you LOVE your clients? Really? How much?

Most business owners don’t. And it becomes abundantly clear on the first visit. If the business owner doesn’t lead by example, their team usually won’t love their clients either. In most cases, there is no welcome note and gift, a warm welcome explaining the services offered, time taken to properly onboard the client, and follow-up to see how it went. If you don’t do these things, you aren’t doing anything special that would show your target and existing clients you really loved them.... and cared for them.

The other way to ask it is, “Who do you want to be a hero to?” To help, always be there, provide education, and bail out of tough situations. Ideally, you would want to be a hero to your target clients. Always impressing them. Always seeking their opinion and suggestions. Pivoting to meet their needs.

If that is not the case, and you don’t feel that way about your clients, ask yourself if you want to develop that love for your clients intentionally. If you don’t, make sure you have someone in a leadership capacity who wants to fall in love with your clients. This genuine care for your target clients will shine through in everything you do..... especially your marketing!

Have a great week, my friends!
